Sounds like a codec issue to me. Remove all codecs and download and install Shark007 codec pack. It's brilliant. Plays everything flawlessly.

Re: Playing 1080 content on Home Theater

I didnt ever use any codecs, i find VLC plays most things i need absolutely fine.

I downloaded Shark and a friend advised that i also downloaded Spidiffer. When i did this though and set the the sound output to spidif the sound stutters badly, i mean really bad! you cant even hear a word, sounds like a stuck record! my friend who uses this method was confused.

In my tool tray the setting is on spdiff and it works fine for music etc but when ever i set it to A/52 (or s2) over spdif it just craps out!

    Well, no its not.

If you want to be picky.....1080p just means 1080 horizontal lines. 1920 is only implied in a 16:9 ratio 1080p display mode.

I think you are splitting hairs. No one is going to produce 1080p 4:3 footage, it just isn't going to happen. So by saying "1080p" everyone really means "1920x1080 progressive frames".

Boy am I glad we don't need to worry about non-square pixels when deal;ing with HD now.
