Best way to share data in a team

I'm currently at university doing a group project, which will involve us sharing some data, like CAD drawings and spreadsheets. I want to set something up so these can be kept up-to-date for everyone.
My idea atm is to set up a online drive where everyone can save their documents etc....would this be the best/easiest way to do this?

    Thanks for any help.

    Try Dropbox - works flawlessly...

Watch the vid on front page to get more info

    http://www.getdropbox.com/

2GB as standard, recommendations give you and recommended mate +250MB of storage.

Also sync is intelligent enough to sense if you are on LAN to speed things up.

Works on Windows/OS X/* nix OSes.

+ There is an app for that lol

Depending on what the backbone is I would use a network drive on a Server / NAS. As this is shared between lots of users I would only allow users to create files but not delete them, stops people removing other users files but it doesn't stop them from viewing them.

You could also use public folders on exchange but for huge files its probably not the best idea.

Another vote for dropbox, it's nice and easy unless the files are very large.

When I had my group project, I had access to the uni's sharepoint server, which keep track of file versioning too.

Worst thing that can happen with group project is someone uploaded a corrupted version or changed the wrong thing and you definitely need some sort of versioning system in place.

From my brief encouters with drop box I'm pretty sure it has versioning built into it, available through the web interface.
