These ads are also becoming some of the most annoying spam in my inbox. Like the "That which has been seen...cannot be unseen!" look on the face of the black moggy in the spoof above, though.

Does anyone know where these ads have come from and why? I know gold has grown in value since the start of the recession but that alone doesn't seem to justify why these companies are desperate to buy peoples' crappy bling all of a sudden.
