Are you scummy enough to go shopping in your Pyjama's?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/pm/2010/01/pyjamas.shtml

I've seen this too.. it's gotta be lower than most other slips and draggings down of the UK community in recent years.

I mean.... who on EARTH goes to the shops, even to buy a packet of fags, in pyjama's and slippers?

Go on.. admit it if you're a scummer too..... but I tell you, it'll be a bloody snowy day in hell, when I go to Tesco's in my slippers and dressing gown.

Elaine Carmody, 24, a full-time mother of two young boys, described the ban as "ridiculous" and "pathetic".

She said she had regularly gone shopping at the store in her pyjamas until about a week ago when she was turned away when she went to buy cigarettes.

She said she had been "popping in for a pack of fags," but if she had been doing a full shop "then we obviously would have gone in clothed".

"But we only wanted fags and they still refused us to go in for a pack of cigarettes," she added.
Obviously.. had she been going to do a full shop she'd have pulled on some knickers, a bra, some jeans and a jumper, some shoes and socks ... but a packet of fags just requires a pair of furry slippers and pj's

    Low? Or acceptable?

According to other people interviewed, it mainly women, and mainly 20 to 35 years old.

I don't see what the issue is to be honest. If you want to look like a right idiot and go to the shops in your PJs I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to.

Re: Are you scummy enough to go shopping in your Pyjama's?

LoL. You know what? I didn't do that at uni...shame.

We did go round Tescos with the baskets on our heads though.

Anyhow, steering back on topic, doesn't really matter what you wear when you go shopping (within reason of course). If other people want to comment, so be it, and if people want to claim their eyes have been molested because somebody is walking around in slippers and a dressing gown, then perhaps the ones complaining need to get out more. If it's a sight you don't like, then stop staring!!!

Anyhow, in my head are pretty girls in bikinis going shopping whereas reality is what Zak has posted.

Re: Are you scummy enough to go shopping in your Pyjama's?

I get furious when I see people walking around in flip-flips and shorts and January - they're just being nobbers basically.

    Jim jams annoy me too.

Still, should Tesco ban them? No, because that would reduce the number of people I feel justified in shouting at.

Oh, and the other day I went to the shops in my SLIPPERS - but the shop is quite literally ten metres away from my front door.

this is st mellons they're talking about tho. most of the streets of st mellons are constantly patrolled by a shuffling parade of unemployed women in pyjamas nipping next door to borrow 20 quid and a packet of fags off their mam or somesuch

the same branch of tesco featured recently on brit cops:zero tolerance where they arrested a local gangster in the carpark, he battered the arresting officer & was only subdued when an off duty CID dude jumped in

ah...makes you proud to be a cardiffifian! (did i mention i live totally the opposite side of the city from this lot?)

Re: Are you scummy enough to go shopping in your Pyjama's?

Great role model for their kids. Chav mother rolls out of bed, straight out and drop their kids to school and pop to Tescos for some fags. Trying to make out like they are hard done by? lol

Some of us have to get out of bed at 6am and work a full day and yet they cant get up with enough time to get out of their pjs to drop the kids off - laughable if it was not so sad. Good on Tesco's on their stance on this.

One of the bonuses of holidaying in Spain is going to the local supermercado and seeing all the girls shopping in bikinis or less. Hanging out (!) by the fridge is a good spot .

Re: Are you scummy enough to go shopping in your Pyjama's?

hmmm, do I think walking around outside in public in pyjamas is a good idea? Not really. But I wouldn't try to deny someone else the right to try it if they wanted to. Better than the people who have obviously been wearing the same set of clothes 24/7 for the last month and haven't washed in that time.

I had a housemate at uni who used to go down to the laundrette at the end of the road in her PJs - is that any different? And I used to bike in my slippers because they were more convenient to get into and out of toe-clips than my opther shoes / trainers. Besides, apart from the slippers what she's wearing in that photo is no different to what a lot of people kick about in in the summer: just because they're sold as night wear doesn't mean they're not perfectly repectable clothes in their own right; I've got plenty of PJs that are almost indistinguishable from tracky bottoms and ordinary tshirts...

Bugger, I appear to be coming down on the side of it being alright to be a horrific scummy chav slob in public
