    Reverse Phone Directory

Put this in GD cause I didn't know where it belongs, mod feel free to move.

Are these legal in the UK?

If so where can you get them?

They aren't legal to own unless you work for the telephone company (I know the BT engineers have access to it) , and very hard to get hold of too.

there's a UK info disc you can get hold of too.

Doesn't help if the numbers Ex-Directory though, as you're not listed in that either

None of the info discs or websites do reverse lookups. You cannot enter a number and from that get name and address.

afaik this would contravene the data protection act, hence its unavailability to the general public

except if the area code is 01534 or 01481 (is that right?)
In the Jersey and Guernsey phone books there are two bits...normal directory and the number lookup bit, also has contract mobiles in it as well....so useful!

Info disc USED to do this, but not for several years. You might find a very old version that does it though. My guess, would need to be circa 2000 or earlier, but I don't remember the exact cut-off date.
