    Behemoth is on holiday :D

I am now officially on 2 weeks holiday from work

Annoyingly my boss got the weeks I wanted mixed up, had he gotten it right I'd be at the LAN right now with all the others. Oh well there will be others.

What do I plan to do ? Hmmm well not alot if I'm honest. I've not had any holiday since last September so the rest from work is REALLY welcome. I won't have to deal with customers, I won't have to deal with all the rubbish we get at work.

I know it will be over in a flash, but its just knowing that for 2 weeks I can just relax and chill out.

I know what you mean. I've had holiday more often than you, by the sound of it, but when I took the full week off for half term this Feburary, it was the first full week (that is to say, finish work on a Friday and not go back in until a week on Monday) I'd had off work since the previous May. All my other holiday had been taken either side of a weekend, so I was in at he start of one week and the end of the next week. Despite the fact that I was herding children all week, it was far more restful than any of the other holiday I'd taken in between.

Whatever you choose to do with it, relax and enjoy it

Re: Behemoth is on holiday :D

I haven't got much option to stay in Cornwall where I live and just relax anyway as the car took all my spare last money last month. Had the ECU fail, that cost me the best part of £200 and then there was the cost of the full service.

Right about now am listening to some banging tunage, drinking cider and doing my best to forget about work.

I guess it's probably different if you live there, but I can think of far worse parts of the country to be stuck in for 2 weeks with not much to do!

Damn unlucky about the car m8. Where in cornwall are you too? I live near Bude/Launceston...very close the border though I live in N.W Devon.

Talking of cider, I am currently drinking a pint of Sams poundhouse brewed in Winkleigh.

Devon and Cornwall are (IMO) the nicest counties in England to live in.

Just come back from a couple of days in Penzance visiting family. Absolutely love going down there. I was kinda hoping I might win the lottery and could stay down there.

Re: Behemoth is on holiday :D

The trouble with Cornwall is so many houses are owned as 2nd homes by rich people, giving people that want to get onto the property ladder lesser chance. There are plenty of things to do in Cornwall lol, surfing, clubbing etc

Everytime I go 'up north' people don't know what I mean by 'wheres you too' and stuff, it does my head in lol

'Wheres you too' must be a Devonshire thing then, I've never heard anyone who's Cornish say that before. I've heard some same 'Where it is to is' though and looked at them rather strangely !

Agree with you there, so many homes are empty becasue they are own by toffee nosed morons from London who think they are oh so important because they own a second home down here in Cornwall they may spend a few weeks in to get away from their busy lives, and they are the first to moan when they discover the Cornish 'Do it dreckly'

The adding the word 'too' is part of the west country dialect afaik. I here it all the time from people of any age throughout the south west.

The quote is hard to understand, what does it mean? "where it is to is" do you mean "where it is to"?

I can understand the latter but cant think of many cases where it can be used other than

    "Have you seen the Giraffe?"

    "It's behind you"

"Thanks, that be where it is to"

Below is a list of what I have heard before.

"Where you too?" - "Where are you?" - quite simply put
"Where that be?" - "Where is it?" or "Where did I put that?"
"Gert" - "massive, gigantic or great etc"
    "Lush" - "Nice"
"Ark at eee" - "Look at him/her"
    "Get on" - "Awesome"
"Janner" - somebody from "Plymouth", generally
    "Bey" - "Boy or Man"
    "Maid" - "Girl or Woman"
    "Chiggy pig" - "Woodlouse"
"Grockles" - "Non-locals" but I am not sure if this is west country or not.

I think the second home business is just rediculous and something should be done about it, but I can't think of much that can be done.

yeh I don't understand the whole holiday home thing myself.

(I am contemplating buying some properties in Cornwall thou, as my parents could keep an eye on them, there is a shortage of rental accommodations, but it would be a rental investment pure and simple.)
