    Good idea, they have a:
    Porsche Carrera S
    Lexus RX 450h
and on old Corsa for the nanny

For the first two I would expect logos emblazoned on it and I don't think the corsa has remote unlocking

    Re: What is it...?

Its for a tracking system in a car, most likely CAT5.

If you drive away in the car without that "remote" within 3 meters of the car it will alert the company who does the tracking and also the owner.

I've driven off in my car without that with me, got a text message saying my car was stolen and a call checking whether or not I was in the car within about 5 minutes.

Just thought I would register to enlighten you all, aren't I nice

Well thank you for that, they've been using all the Cars without it for a couple weeks now and haven't received any alerts. could it be that they haven't registered it yet?

    Re: What is it...?

Yea you would need to register with the company and pay an anual fee for it to be active. You will get one with a new car that has the tracking device installed somewhere within the car, you need to send off a form to get it activated

It's not model specific, any car with a Thatcham Category 5 system installed will have it. There should be a little black button in the centre console somewhere with a blinking LED.

The company that does it for my car is Cobra. I would post a picture but I don't meet the post requirements

If you want to wait a little while (I presume it's 5 posts for a picture/url) I can put a picture up
