Compact workspace to work from home?

Hi guys, we've recently had a new room done in our flat & it's destined to mainly be a place for me to work from home but also it will be a bedroom for Visitors/Baby #2 if we decide to have one.
As such I need a workstation that takes up little space, currently I'm having to use my work laptop on the dining table & it's just not comfortable.

I've seen this on Lifehacker which looked good & wanted to do something similar, I will be using a work laptop (<15") and plan to get a 19/20" monitor, keyboard, mouse & probably a SFF PC for home use.
The work laptop is only used once a fortnight & it will be moved away when not being used so a constant space for that isn't needed as long as it can be freed up easily.
I have power sockets directly below where I will put this & will use wifi for networking.

I'm not sure where is best to start, I like the 'Ikea Shelf' idea but I'm not sure where to get the keyboard holder thingy from? (ie for less than the £20/£30 for the ones from Amazon!)

Has anyone done this &/or have any useful tips?

I'm trying to avoid being lazy & just buying this from Ikea (£36) http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10139134

    Cheers guys n gals!

    Rob

    I found a decent small desk like - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...GLASS+DESK.htm

worked best for me - plus a shelf for the printer... small enough not to take up so much room, but big enough for monitors and other paperwork

Desk was my first thought but I'd like it to look neat & due to the rooms size a desk might be a bit OTT space-wise
No printer so no extra space needed, suprising that I've not used one at home for about 2yrs & don't miss the thing one bit!

I don't have my own printer either. Makes my life so much easier, I just use my Dad's if I need to print anything, then I don't have to worry about replacing the ink

You were already on the same train of thought as me with regard to a SFF PC for your home use/gaming. Although looking at your PC spec there Rob I don't think you'll be doing much gaming on that old relic !

I keep looking into something like that myself as I only have a small room which I have to sleep in so a big PC is out of the window really. That said the PC I have at the moment isn't exactly small.

Haha my specs are for my iPhone :-)

got a low powered laptop (not netbook) and the charging port is buzzing/ screen flickering so it might be on it's way out ;-)
