Google Voice - anyone using?

I've requested an invite to Google Voice as it sounded quite an interesting app to me especially the voicemail speech to text translation. However, I'm still waiting for the invite to be approved so meanwhile I'm wondering if anyone here has had an invite approved and what Google Voice is like to use.
