It's by no means perfect, but broadly, effective.

What's even more effective is being very selective about who you give your phone number to in the first place. It's astonishing how many people ask for it. With me, vanishingly few get it.

Well that doesn't contradict what I said . Anyone is free to implement systems to impose on themselves that can "automatically" prevent them from doing something they shouldn't. I know of one or two companies that, because they were fined by Ofcom, had a dialler filtering system installed and kept updated with the TPS list so no caller in the company could physically call a TPS number.

A company actually learning their lesson and doing something about it should be commended but unfortunately there's some that just really don't care about breaking the law. And they'll simply trawl through the phone book. In our case the residential number is used for a business as well so keeping the number hidden is the exact opposite of what is required (i.e. it's actually in the Yellow Pages). Still covered by TPS though.

Oh i love them, i love those calls, i try to keep them as long as possible on the phone, the longer you keep them the more it costs the company. ive always said iam interested in the product and i keep going on and on, i ask about T&Cs etc.. until they get very frustrated.

Is so funny, because i used to get a few then i started the above and now i hardly get any lol.
