Dude! That's great.
Really pleased for you :)
Nice one. If only we were all as driven as you :D
Actually most of this is down to being sensible about the diet. I've deliberately not tried to eat "healthy" foods that I don't like and instead focused on portion control and the weekly exercise classes. It's meant being able to stick with this far longer than I've normally beoen able to.
Nice one Lucio!
Usually "Portion control" is the worst enemy - my mum eats "healthy" but eats way too much of it then complains she's still not losing weight. Doesn't help that my dad can eat anything and is still a stick. (He was known as TigsDad "Chips with Everything" when working for BP)
I'm trying to cut down my lunch intake at the moment as I just eat too much. One sammich and a drink is actually all I need to keep me going for a few hours!
My bane is crisps. I simply cannot resist the delicious, savoury crunchiness....
It really is bad for me :(
Well done mate! :)
Grab some grip seal bags and split the big packs up into multiple small packs :)
Well done mate :)
I went over a BMI of 25 for the first time ever about a month ago- now got a BMI of 25.5. I'm trying to eat a lot but I'm finding it hard to make any further progress though:(.
Congrats. I know what you mean by lack of sensible sized crisps bag (well, strictly speaking, those 30g packs are pretty sensible, but not cost effective). It's only recently that I realised the calories in a 225g bag of Doritos (1125!) I would eat on a daily basis on top of everything else.
Made it very easy to eat 3500-4000 calories especially given that the rest of my diet were made of take-out and fast food and LOTS of sweet things. A few weeks after I cut both the crisps and sweet stuff (except ice-cream, I still have Häagen-Dazs 4 scoops a go) I could see my abs :D
I bought a kitchen scale and in the rare instances where I still crave crisps, I only consume 25g a go. Now, a pack of Doritos last for AGES (in airtight container). Went for a health screen on Wednesday and came out feeling fairly good about myself (docs were impressed by my new diet).
Nice1 mate!
I've lost 35lb in the last 23 weeks doing exactly the same... portion control...
just been counting calories and aiming for 1800 a day (its been going down since i started).
I still have a way to go, but im definately getting there :)
Well done!! :)
Nice one Lucio! You're doing the exact same I do to maintain my weight at around 10.5 stone :). I aim for about 2000 calories a day, but I also walk my dog 2 miles on a morning and about 3 miles on a night. I also go to the gym 3 times a week and do a lot of lifting, so the majority of my diet is made up of protein rich/energy rich foods. Or if I'm not hungry, I'll put 1g of caffeine powder into a drink, that keeps me going :P (about 0.12g in a Red Bull).
Remember, those who eat breakfast regularly are more likely to be thinner :).
Impressive work from you guys! I cycle to work a few times a week (1 hour round trip), and do exercises every evening. I do have a small breakfast, small lunch, and lots of food in the evening (which I know is not ideal), but...I like it, damn it!
Nice one mate, you've done well :)
I've lost well over 2 stone now. Weighing in on scales at home as 15 stone 11 pounds (although someone that knew me said more like 15 ton !)
It's hard cutting out the foods you like, and for me my biggest weakness was the crisps, and the nuts, not so much the sweet stuff. Now I tend to eat alot of grapes :)
Gratz to everyone who'se managed to loose weight so far :) oh and to Rave for managing to go the other way!
Incidentally if you're struggling to build up properly, have a look at diet supliment drinks such as Ensure, the ones tradtionally used in care of the elderly places. You can pack up for 1,000 calories into a 500ml drink, and it's all designed to be useful to the body.
Nice work fella, think you have this sussed now. Portion control really is key, when I went from 15st to 11st I did the same thing. ate whatever I felt like, just not too much and aim to be a few hundred cals below 2 thousand each day. Throw a bit of excersise in and its easy. :)
That's this many bags of sugar you aren't carrying around :D Well done Lucio and other dieters losing round this amount - very impressive. :)

*other brands of sugar are available
Blimey - that's a holiday suitcase's worth almost!
Bloody Good work that man!
And incidentally I checked my BMI today (was testing some code for the large High street pharmacy I'm currently working for) and I'm 24.9 - right on the top end... really should do some h'exercise.
According to the BBC's BMI calculator mine's 29.7. But I have a number of issues with BMI as a measure, all stemming from the fact that it's essentially a weight:height ratio. I thought we'd accepted a long time ago that they didn't give a sufficiently accurate picture...
That said, I am a lardy bugger and could do with losing a few pounds...
Presumably that's why you're here ;)
What? I was trying to think of something tigs could do, that would be required by members of hexus, and would provide her with exercise. I assumed that must be walking their dogs - can't think of anything else myself...
tbh setting up a dog-walking scheme sounds like a reasonable idea: you get a bit of extra money and you get plenty of nice healthy exercise. Shame I don't like dogs. What I really need to do is move about another 5 miles away from work so I actually get some exercise when I bike in - I barely break a sweat at the minute...
I'm glad I'm not going to the LAN now... :o
Ahhh but you could have got away with it this weekend as I'm not there for the most of it... Shockingly I'm actually staying in MK this weekend WALKING MY PARENTS DOGS (so that the house doesn't get done over again - the dogs are out of kennels while they're away saving money and do a good job of guarding)
Anyway... I get plenty of "exercise" but I need something else to do. A new climing wall has opened across the road so I might give that another go, along with actually being bothered to go swimming etc.
I'm out of routine and in a bit of a rut, so need to kick the laziness habit before the winter blues set in again.
I'm in the same boat as Tigs (figuratively, I don't think she is into sailing), although I have found that going on hikes with a two year old strapped to your back is a great work out. Which I was supposed to be doing this weekend until I got sent to Norway for a job.
Next weekend hopefully.
Laziness is my big issue - and the fact that I don't like exercise for its own sake. So if I moved about another 5 miles out of Manchester I'd get more exercise with a purpose (either that or I'd get lazier and start bussing to work instead of biking - hard to say ;) ).
In all honesty, I hated exercise until I started these classes, the very thought of being sweaty and out of breath was anathama to me. Once I'd been to a couple, the "high" you get after you've finished a workout was surprisingly potent, it even made people at work wonder if I was some kind of pod clone as I was being mostly cheerful at work.
Yeah I know I feel good after doing exercise but I've ALWAYS struggled with the motivation.
I hate doing exercise when I know it's exercise, it needs to be ninja exercise like walking with a 2 year old strapped to your back (unfortunately the small person in my life is 7 and a lot bigger...).
Dog sitting this week, but next week I'm going swimming! (plz check up on me with this one...)
