I have zero interest in this (in fact had to google "Reid vs Watson"), but I will say that I hate it when people start a thread with "Discuss", without giving any explanation, comment, or opinion of their own.
Why do people pay £15 on Sky to watch this?
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
I wouldn't pay to watch it, so I went to a mates that got it and watched it at theirs
I saw it, Reid was tough.... but not very competent in striking (he kept getting hit with a knee to the chin when he was mocking Watson)
Reid didn't have any danger in submissions or ground either and Watson just dominated him
Was funny to see Ms Silicone trying to be diplomatic saying both were winners... I think the judge would disagree with that, as would Watson
Didn't see the fight, but have seen a photo of Reid, looks like he took a proper battering!
Most reports seem to suggest he put up a valiant effort and were surprised he was still standing given the leathering he was taking. Fair play to him, many people who like to put him down wouldn't even get into the cage...
My opinion of the guy changed tbh, as did Watsons...
He might not have won the fight but I'd of given him the first round, he just didnt have the stamina that Watsons got, that with his apparent need to keep headbutting Watsons knee and lack of elbow use when in close is what lost him the fight, he certainly came out to win but had nothing in the way of a close range game where as Watson was grinding Reids face with his head and was making good use of his elbows..
You didn't actually have to pay to see the fight, it was free on Bravo despite being advertised as "pay per view". I actually enjoyed the fight even though it wasn't top notch in terms of skill levels. Personally I've never had anything against Reid except for his appaling taste in women, he's always come across as a decent enough chap when I've seen him in anything.
In terms of the fight I'd say a combination of lack of cardio, guile and tools in his armory lost him the fight. Though that didn't stop him from trying which is better than quite a few fighters I have seen, and he definately showed he's got a chin.
That said neither fighter would have lasted against the top end middleweights in the UFC. Speaking of which Bisbing vs. Akiyama is up next month which promises to be an interesting fight.
If Wisdom is the coordination of "knowledge and experience" and its deliberate use to improve well being then how come "Ignorance is bliss"
if there was any doubt Reid is a serious hard case. He took some massive kicks and knees and barely flinched at times. As someone else said he was shatted after the first round and watson was able to grind him down. Wasnt that impressed with it as a spectable i prefer boxing anyday. It looked a bit i dunno messy at times

Permanently confused
Of course they wouldn't last in the UFC, they are far below that in talent.
Don't forget Alex Reid applied to be a contestant in the Ultimate Fighter and lost to Dean Armasinger in the US vs UK season (Bisping and Dan Hardy were coaches)
It was a bit messy but by real MMA standards it wasn't that great a contest as neither fighter had the tools to make it into one. They just stood up a traded, which whilst making the fight entertaining in some respects also meant that you didn't get a contest of styles. It's when you get two guys that are good both on their feet and on the ground that it gets interesting.
Personally I'd rather watch MMA than Boxing but thats not to say I don't enjoy the latter. It's just that taking into account a factors you're more likely to see something interesting with MMA. To my mind once you get into the heavier weight classes in boxing it becomes rather one dimensional with far too much hugging and leaning on.
