Ditto, like if we don't tread the line it'll be wrong.... but have no idea where the line is.

Well, apart from ones that sl*g men off.
But we're not allowed to do that.
If you're referring to what I said in another thread, there's no exam, and no fixed time period.Originally Posted by lynni
ANY new forum is an experiment, to one degree or another. That applies at HEXUS, it applies at my own forums and any other forum where I've been on the Mod team. You never quite know what will be a success and what won't.
With any forum, only time will tell if it wil be a success. I've had forums in the past that I've thought would be a rip-roaring success and have proved to be a total flop. There is no right or wrong, but simply what happens.
You are no more a guineau pig than any other member posting in a new forum. It's not about judging any member, but about judging the success of the forum. If the forum works, great. If it doesn't, then after a while , we close it. But, by definition, if it hasn't worked, few, if any, will miss it.Originally Posted by tiggerai

As I've said elsewhere, the only experiment is that this is a forum theme we haven't tried before, and that we've SAID it's an experiment - but EVERY new forum is an experiment to some degree. THis is just more so than most, because it is outside the usual remit of HEXUS. If we start a new forum on, oh, graphics cards or web development, it's less of an unknown because it is closer to our core content.
Right, we have a time limit of 10 days to prove this is a worthwhile cause girlies. So if you want it to stay you gotta make it work!
Edit: so i've been told...

PM the answer to that, please.
I REALLY want to know, as I just finished saying there is no time limit and as far as I know, THERE ISN'T. Once more, so far as I know, NO TIME LIMIT.
So if this has been decided I haven't been told and won't be very happy, as it makes me look like a liar.
So, Elmo, PM me please.
Forget the PM, Elmo. I've found the source.
There's a communications failure going on here, and like i said, NO SPECIFIC TIME LIMIT.
That is not to say we'll just let a failing forum go on forever, but neither is it "10 days or else".
If the forum looks like falling flat on its face, we'll close it. But it will NOT be closed just because it isn't a huge success inside 10 days, or a month even. Time is not the deciding factor.
I've spoken directly to David about this, and this comment can be taken as official forum policy. There is no predetermined time limit.
Done, sorry for crossed wires, dint see your post before i posted :S
