flying Manchester to Chicago and vice versa is no problem fuel-wise in either direction. I'm pretty sure that flight-wise Chicago to London is further than Chicago to Manchester (but I've only done each in one direction so it's hard to be sure): it certainly isn't sufficiently different to make it worth stopping to one on the way to the other for refueling!
