Tory councillor arrested over Twitter stoning post
This was so obviously a joke, people need to lighten up, I can't believe he was actually arrested for this.
Do people really care this much what some person thinks about them? Or is this just a pathetic (but successful) attempt at gaining more publicity for herself?
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
It's because he didn't use the universal get out clause of "LOL jk".

An MP turning his usual communications channel into a medium for comedy? I don't think so. Sure, he might not have been serious, but it wasn't exactly an episode of have I got news for you.
I'm sorry, but that went so far beyond funny and out of the other side it's not real. It's an incredibly dumb thing for anyone to post in a public forum, let alone an elected official. There's a line between being humourous and being downright offensive, and he didn't just cross it, he flew a jet fighter past it.
Would it still just be a joke if someone actually did it? Would it be OK because he didn't really mean it?

I do despair, I really do. The MP tweet was in seriously poor taste, but was clearly a joke. He should have known a LOT better.
As to the airport tweet from a comparative nobody, I just cannot believe ANYONE could take that as a serious and menacing threat. I mean, get a GRIP! Plus hasn't the crown prosecution service got better things to do than bullying people for making flippant comments? What a bunch of morons. When the revolution comes, they'll be the first up against--- oh wait. Better not say that.

No point in debating it imo, when has a debate ever ended nicely or made someone change their views?
Hence these people get elected and paid to do so, and they should know better than to get caught in their own webs.
If I were an elected official I would not be so "free" with my humor or anything I do in public, especially on the internet. It will never end well because not everyone is going to agree with you, and as an official or representative then you will be targeted and brought down fast, whereas the general public usually get away with some things like this.
Even so, Muslim women can be sensitive to the discussion of stoning because of controversial stonings still taking place in some countries. They may have had a loved one stoned, for instance, then they are especially upset when someone attempts a joke about the subject with them.
It was poor judgement on his part, but everyone should be encouraged to talk with each other rather than getting the news/media/law involved in such matters.

The cops and CPS are far too busy dealing with the dangerous job of crushing freedom of speech, getting an angle on thought policing, drivers going 0.0001mph over the limit, people parking on double-yellows, giving thugs who put people in hospital a slap on the wrists, and so forth.
