Egypt/Tunisia echoes of the fall of Comunism?

I have just come back from Moscow, and I work there regularly (both Moscow and Saratov regions), and as much as you would like to believe communism has departed, it is just not the case.

Communism (as much there ever was) has departed. What hasn't departed is the cronyism and corruption that has been rife in Russia for decades. It's just that it has a capitalist face now rather than a communist one.

capitalism doesn't really work well with cronyism because its not as efficient as it should be.

But rather than have capitalism fix this by removing the dead weight from their positions, they often stop it, bring in protectionism etc.....

I will say thou that the russians I've come across have all been rather good!
