give your reasons, what do you think should happen?

Nope
London can't cope with a busy day, let alone the Olympics.
fair point.

I think it would be an exciting oppertunity for britain as a whole, Granted it may be difficult but it would be a once in a lifetime oppertunity to watch so many great athletes compete for the ultimate prize
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
Done have the facilities and dont seem to get very much working on time and too a high standard. Or organising what will happen......
have the found any funding for Wembley?

I'd LOVE to support London...but I cant.....its just not possible..
One thing that DOES make me wonder is this....
why is it supposed to be at a different place every time. The reason I wonder is because Sydney was just SO PERFECT......it was so well organised and so...NICE. I didnt go, but I have heard NO BAD about it at all.
The SPORTMEN AND WOMEN involved are allowed to win year after year if THEY are the best in the world...so WHY cant the best PLACE be used everytime?
Greece....presuming they are ready on time, is I suppose the most historical place for it to be....but LONDON....
We cant even get trains to get people to work on time or even safely......how on EARTH will we deal with the Olympics
Maybe Newcastle or Manchester.....not London

If we get it, its going to cost us billions of pounds, money which could be used for something else.
Along similar lines, I heard onthe radio that they were thinking of bringing a monaco style F1 race to the streets of London.
While it would be extremely exciting - I just can't see it happening.
Olympics could be successful; with a different government. Not that I think any of todays contenders would be any good - they're all a bunch of media baboons.
I tell you why it shouldn't be in Sydney every time Zak, they're 10 hours ahead of us so all the events are on in the middle of the night, or in the morning when everyone's at work. They should have built Sydney somewhere a bit less out of the way if you ask me.
As for the Olympics being held in London, I actually don't really care either way. I'm pretty sure there would be plenty of space in East London for a new stadium and most/all of the facilities; I don't think they were proposing to hold the events anywhere near the centre. East London actually has pretty good transport already with the DLR and there's plenty of space to build new transport links, so it could be done with sufficient investment. Once the Olympics are over the area would be ripe for development, and we need more city space anyway, so although the cost would be enormous it'd be money well spent. Having said that though, we don't really have a particularly good record of bringing in big projects on time and on budget in this country.
Rich :¬)
I know a couple of gold medal winning olympians who won at Sydney, and a few others who went along and from what I gather it was the best run event they've ever been involved in. just the whole atmosphere was just far far better than in Atlanta the previous games. god, the USA really think it went well but in the eyes of every other nation its clear they were pretty poor. first off that the americans can't judge an event one of their own athletes is in at all fairly...oh and they got linford disqualified. in excusable.
anyway - sydney was good.

But thats rather inconsiderate to them - how do you think they feel when the olympics are within a 2 hour time difference to us? They are a lot bigger on sports than we are.I tell you why it shouldn't be in Sydney every time Zak, they're 10 hours ahead of us so all the events are on in the middle of the night, or in the morning when everyone's at work. Personally, I just think London is a bad idea. Besides, it's not the friendliest, nicest or comfortable place to be (whether you're a foreigner or not) - I heard ages ago they're trying to reform an old stadium in Hackney to enforce their bid - HA! Even if thats not going ahead, if they actually considered that and were granted it, it will serve the council right for being plebs in the first place.
Let Paris have it - at least it's stereotype is more dignified than Londons.
