What I find rather worrying isn't that government contractors are developing this stuff but that the people inside Anonymous have it, and therefore will soon be in the hands of large scale criminal organisations

Large scale criminal organisations already have the capability to develop something like that if they had the need. The difference is, the government is suppose to be law abiding. If even the government can't comply with the laws they write, why should any of us follow any kind of legal or moral code?
I thought the government obtained warrents for these things when its happening on their own turf!
Are we pretending that they use the same rules on someone elses ground that they do on their own?
