I'm thinking incorrect diagnosis, or else, they're trying to remove the symptoms but not deal with the problem.
I think today's society has some serious lifestyle issues that are going to have to be dealt with quicksharp. So much stress today, and even the things are are supposed to bring rest, are stressful. Few people seem to know how to rest these days, their lives are on overdrive, and I don't just mean in a business/career sort of way. Constantly maintaining things, images, always going for the next thing - 'I can't get no satisfaction' is right.
We also just cram too much stuff in our lives.
That's one reason I wont get a cell phone. I don't need to be at people's beck and call 24/7. I try hard to live areas of life slowly. Recently I've been thinking a bit about different hobbies/disciplines and which are the more satisfying. It seems to me that 'natural' hobbies tend to be that way. That is, hobbies involving life - gardening, pets, hiking, climbing (things that get you out in nature), even bonsai. Music is good, but being locked in a small room all day with an amp isn't. Art too, and I think particularly when it gets you out into the world, nature etc.
Part of the nurturing pursuits, like pets, and gardening, and things that take time to develop and nurutre and create, teach patience. You can't rush them.
Okay, I'm rambling now.
Time to catch fly with chopsticks.
