Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack
off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Wow, a bit harsh Gonzo... Such a talent, but has been lost in the world of drink and drugs for a while now.
OMG an utter tragedy . I am very sad to hear this. Amy was such a startling talent.
I feel so sorry for her family, but she was an utter waste of space herself!
it was going to happen sooner or later the way she lead her life.
bummer though, i liked her music when she could string the words together.

You are quick to judge her and cruelly so if I might say so. Her life was clearly troubled. I do not condone her substance abuse but there is invariably an underlying reason.
I choose to remember her for her brilliance as a writer and singer. She was only 27 and hurt no-one but herself.
A little compassion seems in order.

Very sad news, I wasn't a fan of Amy Winehouse, but I do think she had amazing talent.
And whatever the circumstances around her death, it is still a tragic waste of a young life, whether that's her own doing or not we don't know until after the autopsy or whatever it is they do to find out cause of death. Who are we to judge her, and how she lived her life.
RIP Amy.

Sad, yes. A tragedy? I refer the honourable gentlemen to the stuff that's gone on in Oslo, the ongoing situation in Africa and the bullet train in China that was derailed killing and injuring a bunch of people.
Perspective is something that the world seems to be missing at the moment. I can't believe I'm agreeing with Rave!

Everything you have listed is tragedy. I can find it in my heart to feel sadness for a person who struggled with her mental health and, eventually, lost. That does not diminish her in my eyes.
This thread was started specifically about Amy Winehouse. Have you started a thread about Africa, Oslo or China?
Neither has Rave...
I didn't realise that you had to be the starter of a thread on a topic to express an opinion. Seemingly neither did anyone else, otherwise forums would be full of one post threads, and would suck.
As it is I saw the OP's post as an invitation to comment, which I indulged. Amy made lifestyle decisions which were obviously going to end in her demise. I'm not saying that I'm not upset about the fact that she's gone, merely that I don't believe that this constitutes a tragedy anywhere on the scale of the other things mentioned. Now go start a thread with your rebuttal, if that's how it works.
Her friends, her family, her fans? She was in a powerful position as a role model to no doubt 10,000s of people and instead she flaunted it, abused it and wasted her life in front of all that cared for her...that was despite so many people trying to help her.
No sympathy for her, I do feel so sorry for her family & friends though.
I don't actually remember saying this was a tragedy on a scale exceeding that of any number of the brim full of current World tragedies.
I do try to keep my posts relevant to the thread topic though to be respectful to the OP and to avoid the inanity of discussing unrelated topics.
A young girl has died; that seems important to me. I'll try to solve all the other problems later.
Her actions were not deliberately to influence, she was evidentally not a well person.
