I have ordered some bits today but I cannot see the point of going to Uttoxeter if I dont have a working machine.
Alex - cheers for the offer windows is installed on a 250Gb HDD but there is a definate issue with something on this motherboard - SATA access hangs for ages (minutes) then catches up before hanging again - repeat ad infinitum

GAtey - i had a wierd thing like that with my current mobo, it was that ACHI/IDE/legacy option set wrong in the BIOS, it still happens if i plug in my external drive via esata it just hangs and hangs forever, the external via USB is fine.
so try changing your ACHI thing about.
razer - theres nothing wrong with building your rig up at the LAN, i know someone a few LANs back, who actually drove all the way to SCAN and bought a whole new computer then built it right next to me while i was completely confused about what was going on.
theres even video evidence of me being confused, and a few photos.

LOL thanks but im lucky enough to have some more spare time tomoz to get it finished and built completely so i should be good, cable managment may be a mess mind! i also missed a few cuts in the case so will have to go back to that after the lan XD

I have a pc here that I am using (i5 750) but I want to get my i7 2600k back on the road - this installation is soo old it has issues and is not gaming friendly
New mobo/memory and scratch disc should arrive tomorrow. I will only leave if I have windows and steam fully patched and working - there is no way I am trying to install and patch windows at a LAN!!!
Stevie - Cheers for the suggestion I will check (99% certain its always been set to and back to AHCI) + it was this machine (the one I am typing on) I was building at the LAN although it ended up with a dead mobo
