Ditto. Doesn't look good though. No sign of an ejection
Just heard about this; doesn't look good. Didn't see the flash of an ejection seat on the footage. I would guess the two most likely causes are:-
1. Failure of the G-suit causing the pilot to blackout (it was during a high-G maneuver)
2. Control failure.
The aircraft doesn't look like it levelled. If the pilot was unable to level the aircraft, he may not be able to eject safely.
If there was a Mayday call, then there was a fault; in which case I wouldn't be surprised if all Hawks (or at least the Red Arrows) will be grounded until it was determined what happened (preliminarily anyway). We're having a Family's Day at the station this week (small airshow) but not sure if they were surposed to make an appearance or not.
damn, i heard the chute was found and had hoped for better news.

I'd suggest, with minimal knowledge, that the pilot wouldn't eject over that territory.. it's too populated.. he'd have been trying to pancake it as safely as whatever was wrong would allow him.
My best wishes and deep condolences go to the family and friends of the pilot.
RIP S!

Oh man, thats pretty bad.
RIP
All respect to these guys they are the best of the best and commiserations to his family. I have to say though if I was going to die this is how I would go, doing what I loved and what I was best at. I see myself dieing on the phone fixing some nubs printer problem.
Although he is dead there is so much to celebrate about his life, the number of people he and his colleagues have made smile, gasp and cheer and I bet his family are so proud of him.

Very sorry to read this.
Such a shame. RIP.
From what the papers are saying it sounds mechanical(there was a mayday) and he stayed in to guide it away from a nearby village.
