    Talking Clean desk, dirty mind?

Just underwent a radical cleanup operation on my PC, removing dead/unused links and files, moving URL shortcuts into favourites rather than on the desktop, etc.

I don't have much left on my desktop now!

My Desktop (dual 1600x1200 desktop scaled down to a sigle 1600x600 image)

Even my "All Programs" menu is nice and discrete...

    Edit:
Revived thread had links to files no longer present, updated.

    Theme was Sentinel (grey).

I like simple desktop images - even the "busy" ones I have to have a decent sized border round the outside (else I lose the shortcuts I drag there ).

    Edit:
Old theme reference, no I use ForeverBlue, with a Matrix-style wallpaper on 1 screen and "The Grid" from Digital Blasphemy on the second.

Heh, I guess it depends entirely on the way you work - I hated "Program Manager" in WfW 3.11 with a passion, so I used to use "Dashboard" instead.
I use the majority of the screen for actual applications, with the knowledge that my shortcuts or access to any folder are just a couple of clicks away

The only reason I have the single shortcut on my desktop is that it is to my "sandbox" download area, and it makes it much easier for navigating "save as" dialogue boxes to go Desktop->Download.
(I don't use the standard "My Documents" folders, and rarely install apps/games to their default locations )

I must admit, when I first got XP I had to restore the "classic" view so I could simply find stuff, but now I've moved over to the clean, sleek view (albeit with a different skin)

Mine has the recycle bin on it, and that's it. I think it's currently flying in the wake of a tornado.

I go mad if anyone puts icons or downloads to my desktop. I know i'm fickle, but I hate it!

And i've got the XP Olive thingy too... goes well with my bg piccy.

Because as soon as you get to the PC you stright away change the start menu 'classic' - and then have 'my computer' on the desktop!

    - and a few tempary files your just working on.

A couple of weeks back I had 1.2GB worth of stuff on my desktop :| It just gets used as a dumping ground for.... well... Anything. I cleared it out and it was nice and tidy (not as tidy as that though Paul ) And it's getting to be the same way again...

My desktop is quite pathetic really...

Full of games icons, folders called "new folder", "new folder(1)","New Folder(3)" and various rars that have been unzipped and just dumped on the desktop.

I must tidy it tonight if its too hot to sleep and tidy my LAN rig as its getting to that time again
