    Re: Nuclear Power

The irony of Fukashima is that the defensive walls were big enough to cope with the size of wave that hit. It's just that the earthquake had dropped their height relative to sea level by about 10meters. Consequently the waves just went over the top of them. They would have even been fine if they'd "bunkered" the generators / backups... but this wasn't done due to budget constraints.

I know it's easy in hindsight, but in a country with a high incidence of earthquakes / tsunami, they should have factored that into a cost / benefit analysis. Especially when one accident is enough to dent the industries image for decades.
If Wisdom is the coordination of "knowledge and experience" and its deliberate use to improve well being then how come "Ignorance is bliss"

I was watching a program saying even before the disaster, it was common to see waves lapping over the top of the tsunami walls.

    Re: Nuclear Power

nukes are extremely dangerous and can do more damage than good. Personally I am against it, water or wind energy is much better and safer
