Sister Chooses Wrong Format

This made me roll with laughter last night.

I was messing around with my PC last night when my sister came in in a bit of a panic.

She said "I don't know where all the picures have gone from the camera!" (digital camera)

So I look at the camera and it says "no image", which pretty much means there are non on it. My dad had taken loads from work and had just come off holiday so there were some photos he really wanted.

I say "Have you been messing around and erased them all?"

She says "No, although I did change the format!"

I say "show me how you changed the format"

So she goes into menu, funtions, and there is the problem the option she was choosing says "FORMAT MEMORY CARD"

Ohhh how I laughed.

It goes to prove how the use of a word for multiple purposes/actions can lead to confusion in less than technical users...

To Format, you are indeed, defining the format... of the disk, by creating a file system. That probably wasn't quite what she was after though... lol.

Go to download.com and download a free image recovery program - should be able to recover a few images
