Just a little Top Gear reminder

The new series starts tonight, at 8pm in fact.

    BBC2 or BBC HD, 8pm.

It's a 90 minute special in India this week, so make sure you tune in

I apologise for the very short notice, but at least there's a reminder.

    Driving in india, nice!

I've been there at least 7 times, but have never driven on the roads there...i'm sure it would involve serious road rage.

Re: Just a little Top Gear reminder

Now THAT is what Top Gear should be every single week. Thoroughly enjoyed that!

I'll actually go as far as saying, that is the best Top Gear I've ever watched.. And I've seen every single one.

    Watch it folks

I'd only seen a couple of trailers. But then, I don't really watch that much TV anyway.

Thought it was OK, not brilliant. Just a bit too much pratting around and not enough "road trip", if that makes sense.

Yup, the Vietnam trip was the perfect balance, but as is the norm for the past few years, TG had a great recipe and then slapped a block of cheese on it.

Talking of India and driving, has anyone seen Ice Road Truckers on the Rohtang Pass in India? Hairy

I watched that in absolute disbelief! I would have to be paid much much MUCH more than they are to do that...

A new series starts in The Andes on the 12th of January IIRC; I've got it series linked and recorded on my Sky box, apparently the roads are even more dangerous there.

Ooooo, if you remember, post a reminder here, I have a less hi-tech approach to remembering when things are on telly: either I do or I don't and I would really like to see that

Now come on, I brought you nice christmas pressies didn't I?

Re: Just a little Top Gear reminder

Not a bad special and I certainly enjoyed it but Vietnam is still the special to aim at. They had the perfect balance there, in this one it was close.

Still looking forward to the new series whenever it starts.

Ice Road truckers in India was pretty insane. On a similar note the BBC did a program on the World's most Dangerous roads, sending a couple of Z-listers (well perhaps not quite Z-listers) out driving on them, there were some hairy moments.

If I remember, which I'll try my best to, I'll send you a PM to remind you, and post a thread for everyone else, because it really is worth watching them!

Even though you brought me socks, therefore making me feel "old" (I'm 19) I was very happy with my haul for the year, especially the Jack Daniel's I received

The one with Greg Davies and Rhod Gilbert in Nepal was the best from that series, definitely the funniest and most dangerous.

Do dangerous roads make good telly or something?

I seemed to get a lot of socks and hankies this year (and books & money but then those I don't mind) which is weird as I only need 1 sock per day atm...

Yeah that was a good one, think there was one in Bolivia as well that was also good. They certainly seem to, must be the fun in watch people squirm in potentially (but unlikely for the most part) life threatening situations.

Re: Just a little Top Gear reminder

Personally, I thought that was one of the worst episodes I've ever seen. Lots of larking around (and pretty much the same larking around we've seen a million times before on Top Gear) and sod all about the cars. They spent half the time on a train singing badly!

Bolivian was the best on for me, since so much of it seemed as though it actually happened as opposed to being scripted - particularly the bits at high altitude and on the mountain road.

Re: Just a little Top Gear reminder

I agree that Bolivia was better than Vietnam. I meant that Vietnam struck a nice balance between interest and entertainment. Both episodes are easy watches though. This just seemed to labour, and there was no apparent reason for needing the extra 30 minutes.

I still think the Polar Special was the best of the special Top Gears.
