Facebook like so many things is what you make of it. It can be a negative or a positive experience based on what you do with it. Since the content is user generated it can be full of stupid bile, or full of interesting articles and debates with friends.

Fortunately for me it's more of the latter, but it's entirely dependant on your friends and items you subscribe too.

I canned/disabled mine. I never used it, found it of zero use whatsoever and was tired of constantly having to relogin to check they hadn't moved the privacy settings again. I got pissed off and disabled it. Never found a way to properly delete it, but I'm not that bothered.

I'm on linkedin, its getting almost as bad with its stupid notifications and nagging emails, but it feels like a necessary evil in my world.


I have to admit I utterly loathe facebook and twitter and wish I'd never bothered even registering all those years ago, I'm still free of twitter, thank christ.

My wife does casual work through a facebook app, so I have not a bad word to say about it as it keeps up in beer and wine, pretty much! Although I'd far rather meet up with people for a beer and a chat than "socialise" on facebook. And I really don't get having people you work with and stuff like that on facebook - everyone I've got on my friends list is someone I both know in real life and would like to spend time with - I find it really useful for things like "I'm gonna run this D&D game, who's up for it" type stuff (and yes, I am that much of a geek )

Anyway, I'm pretty sure we all just got asked out for a beer! Time / place, anyone?

You know been dislexic I read that as "traps" first, for some reason my mind asociates that with you and manchester higher than 'taps'.

Its not that I don't believe in it, for instance I don't believe in sky fairies because I see no reason for them to exist (it solves nothing as its simply a case of who created god), but manchester I except is real, I just don't think it needs to exist. Hopefully that clears up the confusion.

Used purely as a tool to keep in contact with friends who I haven't seen for ages, I had a bit of clear out the other month and deleted a stack load of people I was only keeping as a friend because I felt I had to.

I get the odd request from my friends on there to play certain games on facebook but I ignore those requests, really have no interest in playing crap like farm town or whatever it's called.

It seems the preferred way for people to get in touch without getting in touch. Or at least the feeling that they could anytime they want but don't or because they could anytime they please.
