Another bit of sovereignty handed over?

Is it just me or does it not seem both ironic and tragic that what couldn't be taken by war, what many gave their lives working and fighting for - independence and sovereignty for a British way of life, a distinctive way of doing justice, and law and society and values - is now being handed over freely, piece by piece, for nothing?
