    sending files to gmail account

Sometimes here in the office it is handier to send yourself a mail from the production machine to the test network than to find a disk to transfer the files.
Anyway I needed Orca.msi on the test pc so sent it to my gmail account
got an undeliverable cos of illegal attachment, then I zipped it up and passworded it and sent it again, same result, I had to completely rename the file , I used "WTF" with no extension and eventually it got through, thought some of you would be interested.

when you passworded it, did you encrypt file names too?

because I'm sure google doesn't block .zip, so it must of checked the contents.. pretty funky.
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?

Nope I didn't encrypt the filenames, just passworded it normally.
When I renamed it their virus scanner did not know which codec to use obviously to open it and scan it so that is what has done it.
Well just looked back and the contents were listed above and it was orca.msi which is actually a part of the windows installer development suite so it was not really suspect.

Hmm got through as a rar without the password but am still waiting on anything back about the one with a password. Guess that means that they dont scan rar files, which is a bit stupid really. Will report back when I have something on the passworded file, it seems to have just disappeared.

Yeah except where you have to use zip as your production machine has only a local user account which has no install rights. I am talking about corporate environments and moving between networks there is not much choice sometimes with regard to software that you use. I do appreciate your support for rar formats though as I tend to use it privately as well.
