Anyone else got a Nespresso machine? Capsule question!

I picked up a Pixie for £50 and after going through the free capsules and ordering a few more online I'm now trying to find the best way to get moaaaaar coffee!!

Ordering anywhere else apart from directly they seem to be more expensive, the coffee duck/reusable capsules seem to get mixed to negative reviews so before I order does anyone do anything differently? (I've tried reusing the capsules with tin foil but that didnt work out very well!)

As a new customer I have the welcome offer of 250 mixed capsules for £75.50 or 150 for £45 (but then £5 P&P) but I don’t want all of the types just the 4 or so I like, reckon buying that and re-selling on ebay is worth it?

Great little things btw, didn’t like espresso before but I think I could get into it, I just dread the day I want to order a £1k ‘proper’ machine!

£1k proper machine? Got the gf a proper ground coffee one from Argos for £35 Seen a fair few go for around £200 as well (not massive industrial sizes ones mind!)

I don't have much else to add I'm afraid, but the Whittards locally closing meant I got £15-20 worth of coffee beans for £5, should last the gf a while

The wife and I looked at these when we were buying. They're handy, but we found the 'proper' espresso machines gave you more flexibility. Especially as most of them will take an ESE pod, which you can get from the supermarket...

I love espresso but after working with a commercial machine our home just didn't cut it. Far too much faff and fuss. Instead my Dad introduced to Moka Pots. It's not espresso, but it's good coffee. Also, a french press can be good. These are quicker options, allowing you to make a good amount, with less fuss. For me, the biggest factor is the quality of the coffee itself.

Re: Anyone else got a Nespresso machine? Capsule question!

Nespresso is great for the occasional good cup of coffee, but the cost soon mounts if your drinking a couple of cups a day. Have retired my one now (keep meaning to shove it on ebay). It has been replaced with a gaggia expresso machine (£70 on ebay), I also picked up a grinder for christmas. When camping I take a moka pot One thing I am very lucky with is that I have a local coffee shop thats also an importer and roaster. So for work I get them to grind, for home use I grind my own.

Nespresso are way too over priced, for both the machine and the capsules.

We use a Senseo which is a nice middle ground between regular coffee makers and espresso machines.

The coffee is not as strong as espresso though they do make a model with adjustable strength and a milk tank for foam. Our Senseo cost us 69 Euro and we pay about 3 euro for 36 cups of coffee.

If you have a local Lawsons, take a wander in.

They seems to be selling a lot of very n ice coffee makers for 100-200ukp at the moment.

TBH, I wouldn't be without mine anymore. I recently picked one up that had the milk steamer as well and perfect cappuccinos are hard to beat!

Re: Anyone else got a Nespresso machine? Capsule question!

I'm sure you can do a make your own capsule kit for the nespresso. get a used cap and remove the foil, empty and then replace with a gauze. I suppose trial and error will produce the right coffee.

We have one and a machine that makes volume coffee which we use to make a breakfast big batch occassionally.
