I dont know I like it would love to have a bash at it one day soon because it would be great to make a flash game using it, never been able to get it to look right though.

Make a mini Paper boy game or Sindicate wars with it.

As for Tutorials - http://www.computerarts.co.uk/tutori...bsectionid=762 should be a reasonable one.

it can be executed very well, or very poorly. the style for the pixel-based BeOS icons, for example, is quite pleasing to the eye.

what i'm NOT a fan of is things like 8-bit theatre, a web comic which just uses sprites from old NES games

the end result can look very good, but simple scenes can consume a lot of time...
here's some of my work (i guess my signature applies here too ...)
stickworld stickworld v1.5 stickman version four
you could always try sub-pixel art

lcd's with a subpixel order of red green blue. you might have to press your nose against the screen to see the letters, they're quite small.

I think the thing that bugs me about most pixel art is that some people never quite get the geometry right. For example, in that computer arts tutorial, look at the front and rear wheels of the car - the view angle is completely different, then once you spot one flaw you start noticing others, kinda offputting..
