Steve was the main man though, he was very well behaved and evne went out for walks, he had a little lead.
Unfortunately he passed away ealrier this year,
. She just bought two youngens. Angus and Oliver, there rascals, not well behaved at all, in a good way.

I've got some pictures stored on my home PC, I'll try and get hex to upload them to the website tonight.

I've got a shoulder-rat. Cocoa loves sitting on my shoulder. The cynic in me suspects it has something to do with being able to drop crap from a greater hight whilst sat there.

    A stealth-bomber rat!!!

I have shot a rat in the garden once with my air rifle! Wild rat mind you. Pellet travelled from his shoulder through his body and ended up in his tail!!

I was on holiday when this thread started, which is why I didn't post in it last time. Good bumpage skills. Anyway my brother and I had two female rats when we were kids. Mine was a brown rat and was very lively, his was a white rat with those clear orange eyes- she was very placid. She only lived less than a year before dying suddenly whereas mine lived for about a year and a half. They were great pets, didn't smell at all, not much hassle to look after, the only trouble with them was persuading people to look after them when you went on holiday- the name 'rat' still has negative connotations unfortunately.

Oh, and they caused a bit of a problem when they chewed up my school trousers while I let them loose on my bed. Anything left on top of their cage was pretty much guaranteed a chewing too.

pet rats in the room are a major turn off i've found when wanting to "make sweet love down by the fire". Not only do they make sound all night, but if you've got 4 of them, the smell of wee is very unplesent i find, even if they are changed often.

gerbals make much less smell imo.

oh yeh, and woke up one morning, one of her rats wasn't moving, it had died. that also puts a downer on the mornings affairs. Girl i'd only really got to know properly for 48 hours, i'm having to berry her rat.

Does anyone know if domestic rats carry Weil's disease like the wild ones do?

I always wanted a rat but having 7 terriers in the house kinda put the brakes on that idea.

    hi
i am a proud rat owner, i am a bit concerned a mouse cae is normally very small, rats do grow bigger and quickely, so you would need to buy a bigger cage. How big is th cage?
The time and effort is worth it!
