unfortunately I live to work, my work is boring but what can you do when you really need the money?
I live to work: without work I'd not be content. I need it
I'm a mid way person. I know it's good and/or essential but can't decide
I work to live. I need to work to live, and that's why I do it. Period.

Have always been a work to live person, ever since I got my first paying job in early high school. If I won the lottery tomorrow I wouldn’t hesitate to quit my job and spend all my spare time doing things I actually enjoy. I voluntarily took 3 months off late last year to spend time with the family and enjoy the new house and loved every minute of it. Not once did I miss working. However, I did miss the income and eventually had to drag myself back into the boredom of a job. Aside from the money a job offers me absolutely nothing that I desire or can’t get elsewhere.

I'm suprised on this poll.... many many more people who work cos they have too and not through a love of it.

That said there is life outside of work, and while my life in work is balanced out by the social side of it, it's good to take a time out and persue other interests outside of the work place.
Bit of both. I like doing my job - it's challenging enough that I don't think it'll ever get boring, but at the same time, if I don't work, we don't live so there is that aspect as well. If however, I suddenly landed on a pile of cash, I might think very hard about jacking it in and just riding my bike all day (although I'd probably end up at work anyway after a month or two )

which worries me a little.
Hey, it's just observations. But as the other poll showed a v high proportion who earned enough or more, so we have a lot of people being paid enough or more, but for things they do because they have too.
hey.. that could be flipped to showing how good we all are in adversity even when we hate jobs......
interesting one

I don't know anyone who does what they love, simply because it doesn't pay in 99% of cases. I suspect you have been a very lucky chap indeed in your career.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
If people loved their jobs as much as they do other things, we'd probably not have as much of an entertainment/leisure industry.
I would expect the vast, vast majority of people in full time employment (I specified full time as it east more finite time resource) - barring some outlandishly lucky individuals could think of better ways to spend their time.
I work to live and until i find a job that a genuinely love and wake up everyday wanting to go there i will always feel the same.
