How to get best SKY DEALS on renewl

Apolgies if this is a repeat thread from previous years, have tried to search for this but nothing came up in the search option

I've been running on a rolling month contract since Feb 2012 since my 6 months half price ran out and I am currently in my 3rd year with them. I tried to negotiate a good deal with them but they wouldn't budge and have no offers at present. Currently taking unlimited broadband, Phone line basic package, TV with entertainment package and HD only. Comes to about £51 quid a month

Have also tried to cancel Sky and see if they would offer anything then, only thing they could offer was half price HD so 5 pounds a month instead of 10 which is quite offensive I felt. Firstly they didn't offer it to me when I asked the first time, and secondly how little the discount is.In the end I justs removed HD.

Any tips or offers elsewhere would be much appreciated. I have also considered leaving and joining as a new customer with someone else living at same address, but the hassle and disruption to service would be a hinderence.

I am still amazed how they treat loyal customers like dirt and new customers they throw money at them. I hope they realise they will leave after the offers has ended. Kind of reminds how banks treats their loyal customers

P.S virgin is not available in my area so their packages are out of the question

Re: How to get best SKY DEALS on renewl

    Unlimited broadband - £7.50
    Phone line - £12.25
    Basic phone package - free
    Entertainment package - £20
    HD - £10.25

These are Skys current prices on-line for new customers totalling £52 which is £1 more than you are currently paying or am I missing something?
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

Sounds about right £52, although now is 42 since I removed HD package. Still no budge in their stance despite calling them 3 times over the course of last few months to see if I can get a better deal. Despite mentioning recessions and lack of jobs e.t.c.

Their rationale is that they focussings less on discounts but more on providing services to customers such as their Sky GO service. Which is pointless as I don't have tethering from my phone nor thinking about paying for mobile broadband on the off chance I will go somewhere. Services which ultimately the user must pay for themselves to access indirectly. We don't all have nice WIFI spots when we travel and you can't use the service overseas

They're hardly duty-bound to give you a discount. If you're getting a deal equivalent to new customers and can cancel at any time then I don't see why you're complaining - their attitude would be "cancel your contract and go elsewhere then".

If you're unhappy about Sky's monopoly on TV outside of cable areas, then fair enough, but it's another thread entirely.

I could only do that once, but now their smarter and actually look up your post code on Virgin's website to see if you really can get a better deal, same with BT. Would be nice to get a better deal

Re: How to get best SKY DEALS on renewl

I rang them a few months back stated that I wanted to cancel and go for HD with virgin and they offered me the HD box and HD package added for £5 extra a month not bad really. I'll cancel when the year is up and see if they will keep the price for me or not.

Re: How to get best SKY DEALS on renewl

I thought the current offers for new and existing customers were quite good... I rang them up today to add the unlimited broadband and evening and weekend telephone calls as well as multiroom to our Sky package. Free HD box and installation and 6 months free on the broadband, calls and 3 months free on the HD package. Total £70 a month, then when the offers run out £90. Considering our current Sky subscription is £51 a month and we are paying Plusnet £50 a month for calls and internet
( Kids forever going over the allowance lol ) I didn't think it was that bad in the grand scheme of things!

The broadband comes with free Wifi Cloud, which will be useful for Mike as he takes his laptop to Sixth Form. Sky Anytime is also included in that offer.

The only thing I'm kicking myself for is by ringing them I missed out on the £100 of M&S vouchers as I didn't upgrade online. I don't think the offer is there for ringing direct. Oh well, I can live without it lol.

O2 `the works` with `anytime` call packages - £33.50 a month for a year..... sky package £10.50 a month (kids have sky go with the xbox) - total is £44 a month + any calls over allowance (this month was £38 for the phone/broadband)

The problem comes when you already have telephone, broadband and basic TV packages with them. You don't have much to bargain for since your going to add much in terms of services

Be careful here though, coz if you go all the way through to cancellations threatening that your going to leave they might not offer you anything and just let you leave..... which might not be very helpful if you were just trying to put one on them.

My parents have been with Sky since the early 90's and have two lots of multi room + the full HD TV package (no phone or internet). Earlier this year they phoned up saying with the way things are due to the recession that Sky wasn't a necessity and they wanted to reduce their package. Sky offered them a free upgraded Sky HD box (moving the old HD box to their bedroom) with free instillation and 1/2 package charge for 6 months to "help" them out and said they would phone back in 6 months to reevaluate their situation.

I think it just depends who you get at the other end of the phone, if their having a bad day or cba then they most likely won't want to do much for you.

Re: How to get best SKY DEALS on renewl

TBH, the biggest thing to remember is that the retentions team are there to keep customers, not give out super secret deals to anyone who asks. Unless they think you're serious about leaving, then they'll just stonewall you.

If you really want the best deal, make sure that your story is plausible about why you're going to leave, and make sure you sound like you can be convinced, the classic one being the above "Yeah, I can't really afford the luxury of Sky right now, so I'm afraid I'd like to cancel"

This is bunny and friends. He is fed up waiting for everyone to help him out, and decided to help himself instead!
