NatWest and Switch cards

Anyone any idea of the criteria needing to be fullfilled in order to obtain a Switch card from said bank?

I have a Solo... Just wondering if it's easy to transfer to Switch or not

Err, I'm pretty sure thats illegal. With a switch card, if you make a payment and you don't have the money in your account, it will authorise it and take you overdrawn. That is called borrowing on credit and is ONLY available to 18 years olds.

I think to get a switch from natwest you must have £250 going into your account automated each month, just paying in that much cash isn't sufficient.

That in itself just goes to show how much of a disgrace our banking industry is. It's just far too easy to get into shedloads of debt these days, and encouraging youngsters to borrow is wrong IMO.

I speak from experience, and 5 years later I'm still suffering.

I agree Al.... I am reluctant to get a credit card when I'm 18 cos I know it's so easy to get into debt.

I just want a Switch card cos I've heard they're more widely accepted, etc.

howard, i'd wait till u turn 18 and get a visa delta. It's basically a switch card, but you can use it wherever it says visa. It's not a credit card tho, it's a debit card, and works in the same way a switch card does.

As has been said before, basically you cant get a switch card before you're 18, so if you have a solo card then that'll just have to do. A tip tho, when i had my solo card, altho the online shops didnt say they took solo, if i just said it was a switch card, and as long as i had the cash in my account they took it.

some pleaces do require a min income but mostly if you open a student account you'll get a switch card.

yeah, student account will get you a switch card and an automatic overdraft of 1250 with natwest, increasing to 1500 after 1 year of study...also, a free three year railcard if u sign up now i think...(though on the negative side natwest can be right pains to deal with unless you are a standard case)
