mine worked fine in magaluf and it was a shoddy old Alcatel jobby on O2.

I remember it being pretty expensive too though, a mate was using it to text his girlfriend back home. I later found out they weren't actually going out either... but thats a completely different moan

Dual band mobile phones will work in nearly all of Europe....but if you want to use the same account (in this case O2), you'll have to ringing up their accounts department and get them to activate 'international roaming'.

You'll have to be careful of the cost of calls/text etc. They cost an arm and a leg abroad

I think its about 69p a text abroad. You also pay to receive calls as well, so be wary of that.

It should work in Malorca, but definately won't in America as it has to be Tri-Band. (typical america uses a different GSM band to the rest of the world).

when shes there, tell her to use the Movistar or the Telefonica networks, best price deals tbh.

It should work but I am not sure what the o2 policy is on PAYG roaming access.....

Oh and one thing to warn her of, when she gets there, within 5 minutes of leaving the airport she will get a text to say welcome to blah blah network we hope you enjoy your stay, just tell her to delete and ignore it, its common practise in Majorca, but because the TXT is originating from Majorca and you only get the text when on that network you will not be charged to receive that particular text....

Certain countries, mainly in latin America, use 850mhz so you'd need a quad-band phone to travel there. The US GSM frequency is 1900mhz, so you only need a tri-band phone to travel to the US.

I went to menorca with my 3330 on o2 payg and i could recieve txts but i could send any or call out. However i went to the south of spain last year on o2 contract and it worked but i came home to a £90 bill cos the txts werent coming up on my bill as txts, they were coming up as international calls! so just be careful

It's really expensive - I got a bill for £400 when I was back at home (NZ) - but billed it back to the office, as it was all work calls. for personal calls, got a pay as you go card from vodafone nz... she should be able to get a sim card when she's there which is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Yeh Dual Band has been around on 99% of phones for years. It'll work if you're network has you set up for roaming
Tri Band is for places like the US. Much less common, but getting more and more common nowadays

It'll just divert to the local mobile company who relay the billing back to your company plus a few more euros on top
