"Livestock of the week
Sheep have learnt to roll across cattle grids set up to keep them out of a moorland village. Gardeners in Marsden, West Yorkshire, were puzzled after the sheep began to chew up their flowerbeds, even though they had built cattle grids to keep the sheep away. Then somebody spotted a sheep strolling up to a grid before rolling over it commando-style and getting to its feet once more. Animal behaviour expert Mike Hinton says: "It is likely that one sheep got caught in a grid and rolled itself over to free itself. Others would have seen it and thought: that works."
