I have tried the £1 razors from Iceland and I was surprised how good they were. For dual blade ones they were well good.

I sometimes think that you pay for the name sometimes.

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

I have cheapish DE razor with astra platinum blades, it's as good as anything else I've used and the blades cost about 10p (you get 4 uses out of them too since you can flip them over). Tried the wilkinson sword and derby extra blades but they don't give as close or comfortable a shave for me.

I'm very happy with my Gilette Fusion Pro Glide, 6 blades will last me on average 4 months or so

FACT - Did you know Gillette sends you a FREE Fusion Razor and blade when you turn 18. You have to apply on their FB page

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

The price of modern razors/blades is one of my biggest pet peeves. I think it's just plain ridiculous how much they charge.

I used to use a DE razor until it went missing when moving across the pond.

Right now I'm on Gillette disposables, but I hate using disposable anything.

You can't beat DE for quality of shave and economy. The sharper blades though mean you have to get used to them. Once you're sorted they're great. You'll get a few nicks while learning though, and you can't expect to ever be as lazy in using them as with the new 'safe' razors.

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

One of the other big things for me about using a DE razor is that I get less irritation and razor burn.

That was only true for me once I got to grips with it and started using soap and a brush rather than aerosol foam.

Previously using King of shaves oil and Wilkinson sword quattro.

Now using Merkur 34c, Random blades(going through my samples to see which I like) And truefit indian limes Cream with a shaving bowl and edwin jagger badger hair brush

Since moved to a shaving mug although I am going to buy one of thse soon http://stevewoodheadceramics.co.uk/i...g-scuttle.html

Will allow me to get a good lather up and thanks to the resorvoir under neath will keep the lather warm whilst I shave

I tend to shave in 3 steps.
first I later and shave down the face only going over an area once.

    Then lather and Shave upwards

Then finally lather again and shave accross the neck and jawline

Gilette Mch 3 at the moment... Never really used anything else to be honest.

Them DE Shavers do look good though, might have to invest in one just for the flash look !

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

Picked up a King of Shaves Azor 4 including 3 blades last week for £2 from Savers. At that price if its rubbish i havent lost much.
Have used it a couple of times now. Summary (comaprison to Gillete Mach 3): very smooth shave (sometimes you dont notice it has removed hair), cheap feeling plastic lightweight handle, no blade tilt so going over jawline leaves large patches of hair uncut, handle can accept all KoS blades so any cartridges can be used, less irritation and smoother feeling skin.
Overall for the price its pretty good, GF thinks its an improvement!

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

From my experience you can't go wrong with braun products, especially shaving products. I've got a braun series 5 and I've had it for about a year and it still works like it's brand new. I found this site (removed, looks too dodgy - Mod) that gives some reviews and ideas for different brands. I think some people can get away with the cheap $20 or $30 electric razors but my facial hair is thick and my face is sensitive so I needed something that was high quality. Braun all the way.

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

The best razor I've used is a gillette fusion m3 power but the blades cost a bloody fortune.

I think I'll go back to a sensor excel or try a hydro 5.

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

Gilette blue II and good prep.

The importance of prep is much more than the quality of the razor.
