This news still hasn't quite sunk in yet !

    Although it's starting to now

The lady that I've been seeing for the last few months on a casual basis we both decided what the hell, we both get on like a house on fire so much in common and on Thursday evening last week decided lets do this properly So I can now call it a steady relationship, only taken me 7 years to get there since my ex ! Been smiling like a loon ever since

BTW I've already had the rohypnol jokes !

Re: This news still hasn't quite sunk it yet !

Well done mate, I remember we both went through a rough patch a couple of years ago now! Pleased for you!

edit: As for those still waiting. What will happen will happen, you never know what's round the corner. All you can do is improve your chances. Do anything which gets you out the house, meeting other people and keeping you active! When you do see an opportunity to say hi, DO IT! Confidence or social skills are not something you are born with they are something you need to learn. The only way to do it is to put yourself out there. If it doesn't go as you hoped forget about it - they will! ...but with enough trials you will become a dab hand at it and you will hit the nail on the head!

My current girlfriend was in a club (arguable, one of the hardest ways of meeting someone - a lot of pressure!), I just walked up to the bar and said hi and asked her what's good on the menu! Started chatting there and 18months on I am very happy.

My ex I met through a friend before a night out. Had a bit of a chat but that was all. Went out to the club I danced like I didn't care, and she loved it. Walked her back and had a very happy few months before I decided it wasn't what I wanted!

Before that it was on a bus, started chatting with her and bumped into her n a night out later on the the week! i started with the line 'We gotta stop meeting like this, people will start asking questions....''

ya gotta try it, every time you buckle and step back is a girl you could have spent the rest of your life with!

It all depends on what works best for you mate, I've never been able to pull girls in the pub abd club environment, it really has never worked for me. I've had some limited success with internet dating, but I always found the ladies had either too much baggage or were very clingy. I hate clingy girls at the best of times ! I had one go mental because I didn't reply to a text within 20 minutes, it really wasn't all that comfortable in the end I had to say look I do have things to do I'll text back when I want to and not when you want me to.

I've done the old being setup with someone by friends aswell, look for one of my threads last year if you want a good laugh lol !

I met my new g/f (heck that still seems strange but getting used to that now) through work, we do the same job, I don't really see it as an issue because we've kept it professional thus far and work is work and outside of work me and her I'm not going to change that.

I think her biggest hang up was the age difference, she's 8.5 years older than me, and that was never an issue for me.

Online dating worked out for me in the end, lots and lots of persistance at sending messages, following up the replies and having a thick enough skin to take the silent treatment and rude responses.

Ultimately self confidence is what wins ladies over, so get out there and achieve something for yourself, and love will follow
