    Ch4...That'll teach 'em

Last year, a group of GCSE pupils were put through the rigours of O levels and life in a 1950s state grammar boarding school. This year, the time-warp school series has moved on a decade and is putting a bunch of modern-day teens into a 1960s secondary modern, teaching them practical skills like car maintenance, needlework and cooking – not to mention a lot more PE than they're used to.

The practical skills taught in secondary moderns are in short supply today. Can our modern-day pupils learn something from the 1960s system? How will they cope when their mobiles and trainers are replaced with gingham dresses, short-sleeved shirts and stylish tank tops?
    LMAO.....

Modern kids who are used to "Human Rights" getting some good old fashion teaching......

Hopefully it'll make them realise how far things have come...

I was a comp. kid of the 80's and the programme reminded me of a lot things....

Certainly not saying everything was better back then, just very different.....

Just watched and frankly - It wouldn't work.

Want to make the experiment a little more realistic? Have the kids sign a disclaimer at the start of the programme saying that they consent to corporal punishment.

Now, I'm not saying that corporal punishment was a good thing, but more often than not, the fear of knowing you heading for a thrashing kept you in line.

I was quite shocked that one of the boys could'nt point out Scotland on the map. The girls that lived in London did'nt know where London was either.
There's a thin person in every fat person.....that's because they just ate them.

Sounds like a good thing to me!
