..and it's 600 years before Jesus does or doesn't show.
God's are v important.. but we call them Olympians... they are deities though.. so "god" is a good English word to grasp them... and they're more real than myth
tbh.
We don't just consider Aphrodite to be real....and "at it all the time"
and Apollo being godlike.... the god of music, (& healing, plague, the sun, prophecies, and poetry).. lists of jobs so long you wonder when he has time to rest. And Zeus, the big bass ass boss man,
We also have Titans..... including Rhea.. titan of fertitlity AND Zeus's mother making him to his homework when he was a lad.
We also have giants. Gigantes.
OK.. jokes aside....I've always enjoyed this part of history.. but NEVER EVER consider the following, until tonight:
What if the Giants that the Ancient Greeks believed in....... super tall giants such as Porphyrion....who were considered to be dead in some cases (Porph was.. he tried to shag Hera and Zeus took the hump and zapped him).......and being considered dead... what if.....?
what if.....?
someone dug up a dinosaur skeleton.. let's say the spinal column of a blummin' great big dino.. about... what.... 6 metres long?
What if a Greek assumed it was the spine of a Giant? or even a Titan?
how the HELL would the old boys of Ancient Greece deal with THAT?
Well... on iplayer now, you can have a ponder on that idea.

That, is worthy of a watch.
(i've not paraphrased it too much so it's got the vibe but not the same stuff as I listed there... but you get the idea. Go watch )
