a bot would be lucky to make it to 10 posts before getting the banhammer.

Most bots would be lucky to get one post seen by the normal forumites - heuristics are used to identify potential spam and a lot of it is caught before it even goes live on the forums

I've been posting fairly consistently at 6 posts a day for almost 4 years now, but I'm pretty sure I started off at more than that. 10 constructive posts a day certainly shouldn't be beyond most people with a genuine interest in technology. At that rate it's less than 2 months to get to an avatar, if that's what you're really bothered about. Although I have to admit I am sometimes surprised when I notice people I think of as regulars who've only got a few hundred posts - just goes to show you can leave an impression without spamming wildly
