    Flat-shares

H'okay, for all my sins I've decided to stop being a spongey layabout student and get a job. However this job happens to be in London and the slavemasters that run the place want me to start PDQ and aren't paying enough for me to get both a lovely riverside penthouse AND the Porsche, so I'm looking for a flat-share. Could anyone recommend good websites or contacts besides Loot and uk.easyroommate.com? The former seems full of nutters and the latter costs a fortune to sign up to Alternatively if anyone could supply me with leads or advice I'd be most grateful. I'll be working at Old Street so want something within 30 mins and was thinking between £300 and £450 per month would get somewhere reasonable. Of course I'd need broadband and a room big enough for me and a 19" CRT/rig.

    Cheers

Prices in London are stoooooopid...other than that, I have nothing to offer....I wouldn't get your hopes up for getting something for less than £400 a month though...stoooopid I tell you, stooooooooooooooopid.

You'll be very lucky to find something for £300, but £400 might be do-able. I've got three friends who share a flat in Southwark (SE1) and are paying £400 a month each.

I'm afriad that I wouldn't know where to look beyond Loot and the Evening Standard though.

round old street you should be able to pick up something for £400...there's a fair amount round there to be honest. any further into town and you'll get charged an arm and a leg. oh and watch out for dishonest landlords trying to rip you off - if the place starts to fall apart round you when you're there first see if he'll fix it, if not then with-hold rent until he does. holding back rent usually get them running.
