An X-Ray wouldn't show up a pulled intercostal muscle. I think I pulled one ages ago (like my early teens)- ouch.

I suffer from heartburn, and it hurts in my chest, not in my throat. I tend to get the burning throat along with conventional indigestion for some reason

    Doctor Zak here

Dont be offended but some people who have never had it, would nearly die the first time they get bad INDIGESTION. It prob isn't that, but just in case, Rennie do a good job. It does hurt A LOT...like a ballon in your rib cage The people who get it a lot get minor bouts. But if you get it once in a big way, it'll make ya wanna shout out loud.

It might be that you have been shot by a double barrel shotgun, but its less likely.

Hope you get better soon bud

Yeah, am feeling a bit better today. Went shopping and had another sharp attack of pain whilst walking around Tesco's, but it only lasted a few mins. Still made me come over all hot and sweaty though...

Sounds similer to something I experiance. Occasionally my chest/heart will tighten up (or so it seems) and I can hardly breathe. Never last longer than 20-40secs tho. Very strange.

Anyway I hope you find out whats causing it or it goes away naturally. Take care.

Al, can I give you a piece of drastically obvious advice?

Giving up the smokes wouldn't be a bad idea.

    I know...

And give up the crap that I eat...

Sigh, I think a serious re-think about my personal health is in order.

It sounds like you are going through what I had a few months ago It turned out it was pleurisy though (symptoms here) . Good advice from Rave re: stopping smoking. I'm stopping on Monday with the help of Zyban from docs

If it is pleurisy there is nothing you can do to get rid of it. Doctor told me it is usually a sign of something else wrong, such as a chest infection, which I had had a few weeks before but hadn't completely cleared (although I had no chest infection symptoms by then).

Zakky beat me to it, was exactly what I was going to post. I had a friend who was rushed to hospital with severe chest pains that numerous people thought was a heart attack but it turned out to be severe indigestion, and the doctors at the hospital said that the two can have similar symptoms and pain levels but obviously different resultant effects.
