A change to the political landscape?

So the weight of the political landscape decreases by one milliband as Dave heads off to Tracey Island to head up International Rescue (encouraged no doubt by the fact that there was little evidence of sibling rivalry between the brothers).

But joking apart, this must be a loss for the Labour party as the-leader-in-waiting, and good news for the Conservatives, a great joy for the Trade Unions as Ed will be even more firmly in their pockets

It will trigger a by-election, although as South Shields is one of the safest Labour seats, the outcome is not in much doubt (although the swings for and against the other parties will be interesting). .

David Milliband has an interesting voting record though, even though he hasn't been seen much in front line politics of late.

Imho, the wrong brother is in the top Labour job. I really thought that Ed was a temp until we got near to the next election and that David Milliband would 'take over'. Massive loss for Labour and the UK.

I don't know if you heard 'Archive on Four' on Saturday night, but they had unearthed some of the prepared alternative speeches.

One of them was David Milliband's victory speech. It gave an interesting insight into the direction the Labour Party might have taken had he won.

Well worth listening on iPlayer - and not just for David Milliband's never delivered speech.

I would not say it is massive loss for the UK tbh, can't stand either brother not that I would vote Labour. I do think Labour shot themselves in the foot by electing Ed, as all I see when he does his speeches is Wallace from Wallace and Grommet lol

Of the 2, i think David comes over as the more mature and sensible person, poor Ed always just looks like a schoolboy to me.

David was the Party's choice. Adenoidal Ed only got because of the TUC block vote.
