    hair clippers/trimmers

Anyone able to recommend some hair clippers? My haircut is so simple I reckon my wife could do it and save me shelling out £10 a month... I've got a beard trimmer but reading around doing hair head will probably take a lot longer and risk blunting the blade.

    Re: hair clippers/trimmers

I use Remington ceramic rechargeable clippers http://www.amazon.co.uk/Remington-HC...+beard+trimmer. Batteries last about 3-4 years, but's it's a hell of a lot cheaper than going to a barber.

Just remember to oil the thing after each use. Got an ancient pair of no-name brand ones still going strong after 10 years.

    Re: hair clippers/trimmers

I had a Remington ceramic jobby which was great until I dropped the guard and broke it (after around 12 months of use)... Then switched to a fairly basic set of Wahl clippers, got a spare (more study) Grade II set of guards and that has been going strong for the last 18 months now @ 1 trim/week

+1 for wahl, I have had a few clippers, and I always go back to my wahl's which I had when I was 14, 22 years ago.

another one for Wahl. Had these (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wahl-Super-T...&keywords=Wahl) for about 6 years now. There is a reason Barber shops use them.

You don't need to oil ceramic blades

    Re: hair clippers/trimmers

I would warn against getting really cheap ones. I guess it depends how long your hair is, but I had one a while back which cut half of the hairs, and just ripped out the other half. That went in the bin pretty rapidly.

It's not just cheap ones that can be crap, years ago I got some Nicky Clarke trimmers & they couldn't handle anymore than a weeks growth.

Did exactly the same thing with mine! However, since I only use one setting, I just taped the guard back on; been using them for the last 5-6 years.

I paid 15 quid at Argos for a set of Remington Precision clippers over 10 years ago and they have never failed me.

The equivilant set now sells for 10 quid at Argos

    Re: hair clippers/trimmers

I picked up some Babyliss clippers from sainsbury's on a whim about 5 years ago, they've been going strong since then but the batteries are starting to not hold much charge now. They were only about £16 so I think I got good use out of them...

An old Remington is better than a new one. I have both and comparing them the newer one is cheap crap.
