so they had a problem with it when he was going home from Denver to Texas, so presumably to get there in the first place he went from Texas to Denver, so why didn't they have a problem with it when he got there before comic con?
maybe the outbound security are more restrictive than the inbound.
the inbound just presuming "well they checked him before getting on the plane, so all must be good"
does that mean outbound Texas aren't doing their job properly? letting him on with what presumably is an offensive weapon, maybe one of those hidden sword sticks?
they could have checked him but not made such a fuss in Texas, so he didn't feel the need to tweet it, just a quick check, twist, poke about to see whether theres a hidden sword and off he went on his merry way.
but the first tweet is at 4.47 and the last at 4.58. so maybe they were just checking the rules, doing a background check and such and he just got a bit bored waiting, maybe had a bad day or got sick of people asking him to say "aggglllgggghghghlll".
so with that in mind, its just another celebrity hissy fit in my opinion. one with some grumpy TSA staff involved who probably didn't explain things thoroughly of what and why they were checking it.
no real story there.
You can't take a blunt object!
But you can buy a bottle at the duty free!
As for the fact that it was a return trip, that doesn't make a difference. Their rules are arbitrary and inconsistent. I know people who have found knives and even a magazine after the first leg, and mailed them home.
I still found it so funny, I had my safety razor confiscated, bought the exact same one as a replacement in boots 5 min later.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
Its very simple, the application of the rules are at the discretion of the TSA employee that wishes to enforce or spot something they think needs further inconvenience.
In the end, if the TSA employee thinks you shouldnt have something, or need a cavity search, its best not to argue.
