Not enough super-rich people wanting crazy PCs I guess.
well, not enough crazy people paying over the odds for kit that you can buy in quite a lot of places, just without the fancy name

WWW.MrsBurley.CO.UK now updated
That's the thing, all those bits are available anyway, everything they sold was standard equipment available all over the place, they just put it in a one package and charged silly money for it.. oddly enough they've decided that it's no longer financially viable..
Couldn't see that coming a mile off

I have a question about them PuRAM hard drive things. Is there a need for normal RAM if computers are using these drives? From my understanding of it PuRAM is just RAM turned into a hard disk (there for ALL programs are loaded into RAM at ALL times) which doesnt lose its data once power to them is turned off? Effectivly these things are both RAM and Hard Drives at the same time correct?
Yea it is called a rocketdrive
The "PuRam" stuff is actually a solid state drive, usually found in military equipment where a disk based drive would be subject to failure.
The rocket drive is just an add-in card which you load up with ordinary(?) ram and supply power to via an adaptor when the machine is off to retain the data..

geez i was thinking in region of maybe a £5k for 10gb but thats really pricy.
i guess only something as a luxury for the moment, in a few years time ya never know, we could be using 200gb flash drives as our HD drives
for a few hundred quid or so
Hmm, I think that's a good 10 years or so away, unless there's a major breakthrough with high density, low latency, high yield ram design, it's simply going to be too costly..
Another sticking point is bus architecture, there's very little point in having a flash ram drive capable of millions of transactions per second if it you're connecting it through a bus that tops out at say 150MBit/sec (SATA).
Sure in the future there are plans for newer versions of SATA and the new Serial SCSI, but to get to a point where most of the bottle-necks are removed is going to take quite a while, and a whole lot of money..
