I met this word in the cars and bikes forum a couple of times, mainly in relation to wings, spoilers and exhausts. It appears that it means "big", but i am not exactly sure. Google came up with various Mr Ruddys and Ruddy ducks, but no definition of it in relation to spoilers and any wings which aren't related to ducks.
I don't know why but, this word irritates me. Does anyone feel the same? Vote now. Post any other words that irritate you too.

the only time i've ever come across the word is when someone who's said it was trying to avoid the word "bloody" in a sentence (mainly my mum or gran). Never heard it in any other sense tho....

Yeah defintitely a replacement for bloody, "Ruddy big spoiler".
I like it better than saying bloody (more polite if you ask me).
Its like the American equivalent "Fricking", as fricking hell. Personally I find "fricking" even more annoying than ruddy, which is in itself is pretty annoying. If you're going to use a profanity you may as well use it. The intention is there to use it so by substituting to the word for something less offensive doesn't make it right or OK in my book.
Does that make any sense????

Yep I've heard it used a fair few times as replacement for "bloody" but it doesn't bother me

I voted no... While perhaps you wouldn't use the word in a pub full of drunk builders, it does have it's place. Like Hexus or in front of the mother-in-law
