I'd call em pop bands, oasis were a pop band weren't they?Originally Posted by Russ
No they were Brit Pop. But if you ask me they were more akin to indie.
its a grey area to be fair but i'd call em pop as
1. They were part of the brit pop era (clues in the name)
2. They were for all intensive purposes an indie based group which became a pop group after they released whats the story morning glory
Oasis were a Rock and Roll band.
Led Zepplin were a rock and roll band, oasis were the cross over between alternative/indie and pop just as the strokes, snow patrol and keane are now or though i'd like to say the strokes are closer to one than the other.
The Strokes are Garage Rock.
Love the Quote Knox, Spinal Tap rule all
Led Zeppelin were the finest rock and roll band. Awesome.
Personally I've enjoyed listening to the Franz Ferdinand stuff lately.

A genre which has due to it success crept closer and closer to the pop mainstream, just like indie did in the brit pop era which is kinda my point. Its what means snow patrol and keane etc. are pop groups for all intensive purposesOriginally Posted by Theo
eurgh. Keane and snow patrol make me want to kill myself.
Anyhoo - record of the year is largely based on sales. The top selling records of the year go into the nomination round and 'the public' vote for what they want to get up top out of that. Then they pick their favourites from the top ten. It's not about quality of music, so get over it.
tis a sad sad sad day.
